I recently co-hosted a baby shower for a dear friend.  On the day of the shower, my younger daughter was just under five weeks old. To complicate things a bit further, the shower was held at the home of the co-host who lives 45 minutes away.  Needless to say, we couldn’t meet before hand to do extensive party planning.  We divided up the duties and I was in charge of the cake, flowers, two dishes and decor.  I found two wonderful custom items on etsy that were affordable and added great personalized touches which was exactly what I wanted.

First, I ordered custom cupcake toppers for $7 by allthingsbelle that matched the color theme perfectly.  We did not serve cupcakes and instead stuck them in the cake, cookies, cheese, etc. We put the extras on the food table for added interest.  They were perfect!

Then, I ordered a customized banner for $20 from thepolkadotshop.  I emailed the seller a proof of our invitation and she customized the banner to match the colors of the party (soft/sage green, pale yellow, brown).  We hung it across the fireplace mantel in the living room by the gifts and it looked great.

Here are some images of the party (forgive my non-professional camera…)

All in all, the shower was a huge success partly due to the wonderful makings of two talented etsy artists.  Throwing a party?  Don’t forget to check out etsy for unique treasures that are sure to make your event special.
